Kohler Power Systems is sponsoring a webinar through ES Engineered Systems entitled “Test Anxiety? Learn How and When to Test Your Standby Generator”.
Standby generators are the heart of a backup power system. Regular testing of these complex pieces of equipment to assure reliable operation when needed is both recommended by manufacturers and mandated by codes. Facility operators must know how to effectively test their systems and where to look for the causes when problems occur. This webinar will discuss generator reliability, testing, and troubleshooting from a practical perspective and make recommendations for a comprehensive inspection and testing program.
BCEW Supplies Generator in Largest US Desalination Plant
Bay City Electric Works recently supplied a 200kW generator at the largest seawater desalination plant in the Western Hemisphere, which is currently being constructed in Carlsbad to provide San Diego County with one-third of its water, could be operational three months ahead of schedule, according to a report in the San Diego Daily Tribune.
The plant, which is being developed by Poseidon Water and is expected to produce 50 million gallons of drinking water per day, was originally expected to be operational in November next year.
Maintenance of a generator set’s starter battery is critical to ensuring sufficient ampere capacity to start the engine. As a precaution generator users routinely change out the batteries every 2 years.
